To understand my work experience and the Pure Magic activities it is important to know about these two sports.
Kitesurfing
Kitesurfing is a recent sport which appeared in the 90's, it used the power of the wind with a large controllable power Kite to be drag across the water on a Kite-board which is similar to a Wake-board or a small Surf-board. It is an extreme sport and it could be dangerous if you don't control the kite and it is why it is really important to take some lesson to learn.
Pure Magic propose a full package of 4 lessons of 3 hours each to be safe and "independent" on the water.
The first lesson is all about the kite, you learn how to control it first with a trainer kite on the land, this part is crucial to understand the wind and to know how fly a kite. Then you go on the water and you learn to use the power of real inflatable Kite.
The second lesson is always only with the Kite, and there you learn how to relaunch and to land your Kite but also the body dragging downwind.
The third lesson is about the body dragging up wind and the waterstart. At this stage you start to make your first legs with the board.
In the fourth lesson you learn to go upwind and to sail on your own. Obviously, each students have his own rhythm and some have sometimes to take one or two lessons in addition to be independent.
When you have complete your lesson you have to buy your own gears. In kitesurfing you need a lot of gear. You can find all these stuff in the Pure Magic shop. To go on your own you need obviously a wetsuit (a good one when you ride in Ireland), a Harness, a kite, a board, a bar with lines and some additional stuffs if you want more comfort.
The shop and the school in Pure Magic are really complementary, and when a student finish his lessons he'll buy all the equipment in the shop.
Kitesurfing is an extreme and impressive sport. It is growing more and more and a lot of young people come to this sport, a real good opportunity for Pure Magic which is located a 10 minutes from the city center of Dublin.
